What are the borrowing and interlibrary loan (ILL) policies for holidays, breaks, and atypical campus operations?

2022 Dates to be aware of:

  • Winter Break: Final ILL Request Dates
    • Physical: Requests will not be processed after [TBA]
    • Electronic/Digital: Requests will not be processed after [TBA]

 

Policies for Holidays & Semester Breaks

Requests for physical and electronic/digital items will continue to be received by the library over the holiday or break. However, requests received over the holiday/break, will not be processed until normal operations resume after the holiday/break.

Please be aware of the general holiday/break cutoff dates in order to receive physical and electronic/digital ILL requests before the holiday/break. Requests submitted after the cutoff dates may not arrive until after the holiday/break:

  • Physical items: Requests should be submitted no later than two weeks before the start of the holiday or break.
  • Electronic/Digital items: Requests should be submitted no later than two working days before the holiday or break.

 

 

Policies for Atypical Campus Operations

The Atypical Campus Operations category covers any circumstances where normal campus operations are limited, impeded, or completely shutdown; i.e. hurricanes, pandemics, floods, Work-from-Home orders, etc.

 

Electronic/Digital Item Requests

The library will continue to receive and process any requests for electronic/digital items during atypical campus operations. In the event of a complete shutdown, requests will be processed when normal campus operations resume.

All electronic/digital items will be delivered electronically. Please be aware that due to the nature of atypical campus operations, there may be significant delay in fulfilling electronic/digital requests.

 

Physical Item Requests

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the library will continue to receive and attempt to process any requests for physical items during atypical campus operations. In the event of a complete shutdown, requests will be processed when normal campus operations resume.

Please be aware that due to the nature of atypical campus operations, the ability to receive or provide access to physical items may be severely limited or non-existent. Where possible, electronic or digital copies may be provided in lieu of physical items.
