How Do I Register a My NCBI Account in PubMed?

Answer

My NCBI is a free, personalized account that can be used with the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)'s databases, including PubMed.Use your My NCBI account to save searches, save collections of citations, manage filters, and set preferences for NCBI databases.

The preferred method for creating a My NCBI account is to register it with your preferred email account rather than through a third-party partner (e.g, Google, Florida State University, eRA Commons, etc.).

  1. From the PubMed homepage, click on Sign in to NCBI in the top right corner.
  2. Click on Register for an NCBI account.

  1. Follow instructions to create a username and password, and include your preferred email address.

If you have already created a My NCBI account by logging into My NCBI the first time using a third-party login, you may not be able to reset your password or change email addresses without creating a new account and then contacting the My NCBI staff to merge your old and new accounts. Contact info@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov for help with merging accounts.

Once you have created your My NCBI account, you can link it with FSU Libraries subscriptions. To learn more about linking your My NCBI account FSU holdings, please see our FAQ How Do I Link PubMed to FSU Holdings Using My NCBI?
